Devouer TraditionsGoth's Ring | Challenging
This coliseum-style battle is overseen predominantly by the warlord. Two walk in; one walks out. Challenges result for mates/mating rights, trophies, food, anything under the sun, however, you must kill your opponent, and prove you are worthy to own these things. You keep what you kill - so all that your opponent owns, you gain if you win. HellHound | Battle-Game This is a king of the hill game, with a continuous one on one battle until there are no more contestants willing to fight. The winner of the first fight will fight the second challenger and so on until they are defeated themselves. Last one standing is the victor AKA Hellhound. Claiming | Purge Once every six months both factions will retreat from the mortal realm in order to "thin the ranks", so to speak. For the amusement of the gods they will battle for 72 hours before being returned to the realm. All beings of either faction, including their young are included in this purge. Even gods grow tired of the same tedious repetition that is life. Logging on during this time with the purpose of RPing means that you accept the following: Your character, be it a leader, cub, or any rank in between, is up for the death penalty, this does NOT have to be discussed with anyone beforehand; if in RP it comes to such an event it happens. If you do not consent to this, do not log on during the claiming event. It will be scheduled ahead of time; no one can claim ignorance. Devourer Rituals
Marking | Awarding Rank
Marking is the ceremony when those who have proved themselves are branded with the mark of their rank. Ranks of the devourer horde are permanent, unless Grimm them self sees it fit to promote/demote you. Marking is done with both the commander and at least one shaman present. The commander will call upon Grimm to grant their loyal soldiers a rank befitting their talent. When Grimm designates a rank they will burn the mark of that rank onto the body of the drone with magic - this mark does not heal, and must be neutralized by a skilled Shaman otherwise the mark bearer's soul will be lost due to Grimm's strong magic. Summoning | Birth A thumbscrew female will leave the horde to fins a safe place to give birth. She will meet with Grimm as she gives birth, and Grimm will decide whether or not to grant each new vessel with a soul. Those that do not receive a soul will feed the mother, while she cares for the living. Once her young are three months old she will return to the horde, relinquishing her authority over her young, which will make then the responsibility of the whole. Once Whelps become one year of age they will be made Drones. Returning | Death Unless impeded by Enforcer magics, upon death a devourer's soul will return to whatever it's bound object is. It will rest in this object until the soul is strong enough to take on a living form again. Should the soul's bound object be destroyed, while the soul is weak, or while the soul is away from it (living) then the soul will be returned to and devoured by Grimm. |
Enforcer Traditons
Proving | Coming of age
Cubs on the verge of adulthood must complete this ritual to be granted rank, or they will be cast out. This is a contest of strength, endurance, and wit, and must be completed individually. This is a task requiring the young adults to leave the encampment and go on a metaphorical journey. this journey can be anywhere from a week, a month, and in rare cases a few years. Whatever the young bring back from the proving they must have a tale to tell explaining why they chose the item as a trophy. Sometimes what they bring back is not an item, but an understanding or new outstanding ability. Whatever the case, they will be judged by a council comprised of the General, PeaceMaster, and at least one Elder the night after their return, and the youth will be named an adult and ranked. Blade Dancing | Awarding Rank
An large celebration that involves dancing, paint, alcohol, and purified steel. It is a fun celebration in which cubs will become soldiers, and soldiers worthy of advancement will gain their rank marking. With the blessing of the General, the Peacemaster will use a traditional purified steel blade to carve a permanent mark into the rising soldier's shoulder. Slaug | Releasing a soul A prayer said over a dying creature in order to release it's soul to the Eternal plane. When this prayer is neglected the soul is likely to find it's way to Grimm. Before Killing thank Yhor for the life of the soon to be deceased; once the life has been ended speak these words: "I pray that Grimm be bound; that this soul bear witness to the light of Yhor's Eternal Gardens." This prayer will also free a Devourer from its bound object; keeping the soul from Grimm. |
